I've done regular sprints, I'll give hill sprints a whirl.

How wide are your feet? A lot of people wear the standard D size when they are really an E or larger. Wearing a shoe that is too narrow will cause a lot of foot pain and blisters.

If you can, get on a Treadmill Barefoot, Strengthens the Foot area. Also helps the Biomechanics of the Knee.

Get some good shoes. For the longest time, I used to run in whatever crap shoes I had laying around. I recently purchased some decent shoes and some insoles (for the crap shoes) and man can I tell the difference..

I was actually going to get a pair of minimalist shoes which practically simulates barefoot so my form wouldn't compromise my knees

feet? hmm well the only stretch that I do regularly that actively involves my feet is when I do some static calf stretches. I should add a few specifically for the foot, I'm guessing like the foot rotations while sitting

People always stretch the posterior chain, never the anterior below the Knee the antagonist of the calf and Achilles. So they dont work to there Max, neither does the knee or Ankle or Foot. Worth a thought .

Great point. Never noticed that, I'll start doing it.

Got me a pair of these and ran with em yesterday on dirt roads. Got accustomed to forefoot striking

Have a look at POSE Running, not saying one way or the other. But know good athletes who have adopted bits out of it, who were having problems. Its worked for them.

I just read the abstract and I agree with practically all that is being said in there. I find it fascinating because in my last run I happened to be testing out lean angles and cadence for energy conservation.

What this has to do with roadwork and conditioning rather than injury prevention I have no idea, but its very good stuff to know.

It helps with impact, saves on wear and tear of Muscle and Joints. People I have talked to Runners, tell me over a period of time, there Strength and endurance and Biomechanics have improved, with there Times. As I say im still not sure of other things with the technique, there you go, Im a fussy C**t.

level 2 athletics coach here. definitely get a pair of running shoes - roads and concrete etc are hard surfaces and your feet, knees and back need some help!
best idea is to go to a specialist running shop and run barefoot on their treadmill, so they can analyse your gait etc and will recommend the best shoes for you. i swear by new Balance, but after years of running I know they suit my feet. Even then i can feel a difference between certain styles, so still go for what they advise

Wear you the wrong footwear and you run run the risk of screwing with your knees and joints.
