Say Wald will finally fight Povetkin some day and beats him ...
1) will he officially capture the 'regular WBA' belt to become two time WBA champion? 2) will he be automatically promoted again to his current status of superb WBA title ... say he become two time/double superb WBA champion? 3) the 'regular WBA' title will be vacant I guess and Povetkin may still be on the line for the WBA title fight ... right? .... just curious how is that working? |

flash forward to march 2013
Povetkin "at this time, my trainer frankenstein and myself have decided after the 3 wba regular heavyweight title fights and being a gold medalist we still need 4 or 5 fights...we are a very young heavyweight champion. we will fight wlad very soon" http://www.proboxing-fans.com/wp-con...s1-300x212.jpg |

Sulaimans number one objective right now is get Arreola a WBC belt. It will happen in 2012. Maybe Vitali gets upgraded or something. When Chris gets it, and he will, then Wlad will try to """unify""" the titles

Option 3 dude. As soon as the fight with Wlad is announced, WBA will announce the belt has been vacated.
At this point I don't really have a problem with the WBA belt, if it causes interesting fights to be made. And Povetkin/Chagaev was an interesting fight, as will be Povetkin/Boswell. Absent the paper belt I'm not sure either of those fights would have happened. I don't have a problem with Povetkin dodging Wlad either. As long as Povetkin keeps winning the fight will happen eventually, since the financial incentive will be so high. There's also the issue of AP's pride--once Povetkin feels confident enough to call himself a real champion then he'll want to at least try to beat Klitschko. |
