Gotta admire Frazier for authorizing this description of Bonavena's finest hour.

Frazier-Bonavena II is quite the performance, perhaps Frazier's most underrated. Been watching it over with his film as I've been finishing up my edit on a Frazier highlight video.

Funny how Ellis and Ali could knock out Bonavena but Frazier couldn't do it in 30 rounds of boxing.

The first one was a ten rounder.

Also, I've seen the knockdowns now and they aren't that much as he describes them The second one certanly wasn't a push, put it that way, I counted three left hooks. But I think what he means is they weren't the type of punches that would normally knock him down. His equilibrium had gone a bit after the first one. He was up pretty quick though. Looked buzzed rather than really hurt at that point.

In that fight where he knocked Frazier down twice in same round, with 3 knockdown rule in effect, Bonevena did weird thing, he ran for some reason. Frazier got up shaky, Bonevena started backpedaling.

Frazier was tough man, maybe him getting back up spooked Bonevena?

Probably winded. Bonavena was no slouch in the stamina department, but trying to finish a man with a barrage of hard punches is very different from fighting at your own pace. It will tire you out.

He did not seem winded Shake, it was two quick back to back knock downs, not a lot of punches thrown. He just started running, or bicycling, backwards. It helped contribute to his reputation as a head case. Frazier was wobbly, but came forward anyway, only way he kew how to fight.
