James counter attacks would i think become more and more sporadic as Tigers industry just does not flag, Dick is not a long armed Boxer whose punches James can slip and counter, Dick up close will be working James body and leave little room for time James to work effectively, like he did against say Barkley,
Hitting Dick in the Body would not acheive much, Such was Tigers rocklike body,
i think as the fight goes on James is shackled in defence, he may see it a moral victory in making Dick Miss many big shots, but it will not put points in the bag, Dick on points for me.

Toney thrives off come forward fighters and thrived off inside fighting. Toney UD

Dick was too tight with his punches for Toney to counter effectively

I can't see any way Toney can prevail here. As said earlier, he just can't penetrate Tiger's rocklike body and chin.

lol yes because Toney was made out of ice cream. Anyways, at 168 Toney's skill was more refined than at 160lbs, and I felt he was quicker at the weight, probably because 168 was a more comfortable weight for him. So if the fight was at 168 I choose Toney by decision, and at 160 I'm unsure. It would not be a walk in the park for either of them.

Like against Dave Tiberi?

Tiger was even more impressive, consistent, and dominant at his peak against infighters than Toney was. He also showed better footwork than Toney - see his fights with Jose Torres (twice) and Benvenuti.

Toney's style of leaning to his right to avoid right hands would also put him in line for Tiger's left hook, which was his best weapon.

Toney would run into all the same problems he had against Montell Griffin (twice), and more.

My expectation would be for Tiger to keep circling Toney and bang him with jabs and hooks on his way to a decision.

12 rounds? We're stuck with this 12 shit badly enough in reality...why not for a "what if" bout we make it 15 rounds? It's what "the distance" should be.

Toney was not a mover...a jabbing mover..I pick Tiger by a clear 15 round decision.

Tiger would fight in close and with his superior strength and boxing conservatively, would win a decision, as I said earlier.
