Was Wanderlei Silver roided up in the Pride days

He is only 5'10 and he was fighting at 205 (93kg). He was much thicker then he is today. Was he so succesful in the pride days because he was raging like a mad man on steroids. Since he has come to the ufc and i assume they test fighters for steroids, he hasnt been the same fighter and has a terrible record since joining the ufc. I personally think he was using steroids and think mma is a dirty sport when it comes to steroids. What are your thoughts?

It's pretty well known that a majority of guys were juicing and juicing hard in Pride. It's safe to say Silva knew his way around a needle.

i see his fights from when he was in pride days and i see him fight now and the difference in his physice is major. He was definatly on steroids. I think his career was only so succesful because he was aided by steroids. With out the steroids he may not have been as strong or been able to take shots like he could back then. Because he sure cant take a shot now, he gets hit and he drops.

But from what I've heard about Pride's non-existent drug testing policies, his opponents would have also been taking steroids. So it all evens out.

just because wanderlei was on steroids doesnt mean everyone was on roids back in the pride days. The only fighter who really stands out to me for steroid use in wanderlei and overeem. But wand was on the roids hard if you look at him back then and look at him now.

The most fighters are probably on something and they didn`t test in PRIDE. And when he was fighting at 205 in the UFC he also looked roided up, but I think he sould have stayed at 205 the weight cut probably didn`t help his chin he looks like a zombie now

Very true. Although hormone use is/was prevalent in PRIDE as well as the UFC. Except the UFC likes to pretend they do something about it. Almost ALL of the UFC's earlier stars were on gear. Even after the early days many of their notable fighters were on gear. It's part and parcel of the sport.

Wandy looks terrible physically at 185. He looks very dehydrated and physically depleted. Pretty certain his been on hormones his entire career. It was never sensible for him to make a weight cut to 185 when his been at 205 for well over a decade.
