Default HBO BAD: Saul Alvarez vs. Kermit Cintron & Adrien Broner vs. Vicente Rodriguez RBR

BoxNation coverage begins @ top of the hour. (9pm EST) HBO coverage begins in two. (10:30pm EST)

IB's RBR disclaimer:

DO NOT ASK FOR LINKS! Do not hint for them. Do not ask "what channel?". Do not make any post that could be interpreted as insinuating a link request, even if it sounds innocent (ie stuff like "Gee, I don't have a way to watch this" or "if only this was televised where I live...")

All that stuff will a) get you banned and b) clutter up my thread with quickly deleted posts. The folks at ESB do not want to get sued and therefore have adopted a VERY strict policy of zero-tolerance on stream requests to cover their butts. The moderators DO enforce this policy, and they patrol my RBR threads like sharks so DON'T think they won't catch you.

Oh, and...

If you're dumb enough to discuss streams in any way (again, even seemingly innocent discussion such as asking for a "legal" one) and they see your post and delete it/ban you (it WILL happen, believe me) - DO NOT HARASS ME VIA PM FOR "SNITCHING" YOU OUT. That has nothing to do with me. The moderators patrol the threads, and see the offending posts for themselves without anybody having to snitch. Don't blame me that you did something against the site's rules and got caught/banned. I personally don't give a flying **** what anyone does and am not here to 'snitch' and have neither the time nor motive to get involved with crap like that while doing my RBR reports. The moderators are doing what they're supposed to be doing and the issue is between you and them if you are breaking rules. Just please don't clutter up my threads with posts that are going to get deleted and muck up each page. It's unseemly and disrupts everyone else's enjoyment.

Thank you.

PS. My only other rule in these threads is that, as a matter of courtesy, you refrain from posting spoilers if you are aware of undercard results that most people are going to see televised on delay. Also, if there are two events going on at once keep all discussion of the other card in its own thread, and don't cross-contaminate with spoilers between the two. Thanks.

Thankyou in advance

I think Rodriguez will beat Broner, it's just a hunch that I have, looking forward to a solid night.

The Streep parallel is essentially all there is to it. He'll keep getting cast in more and more serious roles until finally they have no choice but to recognize him as a talent and not just another pretty face.

Earlier, unbeaten featherweights DeVonte Allen & Salvador Perez battled to a draw in the opener @ US Bank Arena.

That is two of the six bouts in Cincinnati already in the books.

Remaining are a 4-rounder and a 6-rounder, and then the Gary Russell Jr. vs. Heriberto Ruiz bout over 10 rounds and finally the main event for this venue: Adrien Broner vs. Vicente Rodrigez.

Meanwhile over in Mexico City, there are a total of ten bouts scheduled. Like the Cincinnati card, only two bouts will be televised (Daniel Estrada vs. Carlos Parra, and Saul Alvarez vs. Kermit Cintron on BoxNation) - and only the main event on HBO.

will Canelo pull out the shoulder roll in another "homage to Mayweather" or does he get serious?

BoxNation is promoting itself heavily. (it switches from a free/"beta" station to a paid service in four days)

"One way of looking at it is, yes it's another 10 a month - but when you think about it, 2.50 a week - that's a pint. 10 is a round for your mates!"

"Every month, for 10 you're guaranteed four domestic shows. Four of my shows, that's worth 10 of anybody's money, innit? Plus, every month you get three, sometimes four international shows featuring top American talent. You get to see all these talented boxers not only getting educations as they step up, but winning titles. How is that not worth 10?????"

It's just a shame they serve up as much shit as they do good stuff...and even more irritatingly they have Steve "fat ****er" Bunce as it's face which is annoying, add that to Steve "I'm s professional who seems to know **** all" Lillis...eurgh.

Truth be told, I wish they had a station like that I could subscribe to in this country. Maybe someday.

It's nice, but remember it's 2 am UK time, they aren't going to sell many subscriptions if they only show good fights at 2am...the past few weeks (aside from November 5th) have been awful.

Here is the full docket & live broadcast running order:

  • Chris Pearson vs. Steven Chadwick, 4 rounds @ middleweight (Cincinnati)

  • Gary Russell Junior vs. Heriberto Ruiz, 10 rounds @ featherweight (Cincinnati)

  • Adrien Broner vs. Vicente Martin Rodriguez, 12 rounds @ super featherweight (Cincinnati)

  • Saul Alvarez vs. Kermit Cintron, 12 rounds @ light middleweight (Mexico City)

Daniel Estrada is no longer being shown, as his original opponent in Mexico City (Francisco Cordero) is out and replaced with Carlos Parra. Apparently Estrada vs. Cordero was worth BoxNation's time, but Estrada vs. Parra isn't. Kind of harsh that they preempt the ten-rounder for a mere 4-rounder. Whatever. Their prerogative.
