"Pop come brush my hair" won him the event, and say what you will but his talent is evident. Both guys are talented, but Russell may not have the charisma to be as big of a star. They are both ultra talented, and I expect both to do very well.

Broner has far more technical skill. Russell has no technique skill and just has handspeed and power. I think Russell may eventually get knocked out because he's too easy to hit.

Really liked what I saw from Broner tonight. He needs to tighten up that 'D' a bit, but he's VERY strong at that weight class and patiently picked his man apart in an exciting way. It looks to me like he's a lot physically stronger than people realize. Not sure how far he will go, but he seems to have a lot of potential. Two very brutal KO wins back to back on HBO is a good campaign tactic for winning over the masses.
I think we need to see more from both guys, but Russell moreso. One very nice stoppage win is not enough to tell me about him. He's still more of a work in progress than Broner at the moment. Looked very easy to hit tonight, but he was allegedly trying to be aggressive/exciting for this bout. Humble guy, so hopefully he does well. |

Broner is the shit. I went from being unimpressed vs Ponce to really being a fan of his.
thought he looked really akward against the ropes but all huge around star potential. Comes of very fun and entertaining but not arrogant. Gary Russell - seems like a hard working great person - HUMBLE. really rooting for him. blazing speed, just few defensive flaws but with his work ethic the sky is the limit. Kermit Cintron - I used to think he got Sanduskied by Boxing now I question if it is the other way around. I thought power was the last thing to go ? Would have liked to hear from him after the fight good job HBO. They tried to reach him at the hotel after but the power went out. |
