Ok, here is what the raw data looks like, based upon what in-the-know boxing scribe Kevin Iole wrote earlier today, that Pac-JMM III did around 1.5M PPV buys.
Last three fights, comparison: [] = Total PPV buys over the three fights () = Total PPV buys against common opponents (2) in last three fights ======================================================= Pac-Margo ----> 1.15M Pac-Mosley ---> 1.30M+ ------- [2.45M] Pac-JMM III ---> 1.50M -------- [3.95M] ------ (2.80M) ======================================================= PBF-JMM ------> 1.00M PBF-Mosley ---> 1.40M -------- [2.40M] ------- (2.40M) PBF-Ortiz -----> 1.25M -------- [3.65M] ======================================================= * * * So, Pac has outdone Mayweather in both total PPV buys and buys against common opponents in each man's last three bouts. Some people have questioned both the Pac-Mosley figures and the Mayweather-Ortiz numbers. The 1.5M pay-per-view buys is the most either fighter has done since 2007 (ODLH-PBF), and the second-most either fighter has done, ever, for one fight. Given Pacquiao's increasing PPV buyrates, his popularity may still be growing. |

Some more important facts:
Mayweather-Ortiz and Pacquiao-Marquez III happened close together and in the same year - can't blame economic/consumer conditions. Mayweather was coming back from a long vacation (supply and demand) while Pacquiao has been active. Imagine the PPV numbers if Pac were to take 16 months off and then come back. Perception: Marquez was a mismatch. Ortiz was a young, hungry lion. Manny Pacquiao = PPV King and the Face of Boxing.

![]() I'm curious what Manny's final purse will be from JMM III after these big numbers came back. He could make something like $30M from the fight, I think. |

The national average for the price of gas was $2.79 when Floyd fought Mosley. The national average for the price of gas was $3.96 when Pac fought Mosley, over a dollar more. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

-Floyd did the same numbers vs no name Ortiz that Pacquiao did vs De La Hoya and Cotto
-No official numbers for Mosley vs Pacquiao or JMM vs Pacquiao III -Compare numbers for JMM vs Pac II to Floyd vs JMM (only a year apart) and see what you find. Floyd vs De La Hoya: 2.4M Pac vs De La Hoya: 1.25M Floyd vs Mosley: 1.4M Pac vs Mosley: 1.3M [Unverified] Floyd vs JMM: 1.1M Pac vs JMM: 0.4M, 0.65M, 1.5M [Unverified] Pacquiao's only verified numbers did HALF of what Floyd did vs common opponents. What were you trying to prove again Pactards? |

The PPV King status is only as good as the last show. Pacquiao-Marquez III did 1.5 (unofficially) while Mayweather-Ortiz did 1.25 (unofficially). Case in point - Lady Gaga is the current best-selling artist (just using an example), which means that if her album outsells say a 50 Cent album with both albums being released in 2011, then she is the top draw in the music industry. But if 50's next album outsells Lady Gaga's next album, then he holds the title of top selling artist again. As it stands, Pac outsold Floyd in 2011, in a fight just a month after Floyd's, therefore Pac is the current PPV King. Also, Floyd's rise came AFTER Oscar, just like Pac did. Fag.

Moron, Floyd became a PPV star because of Oscar. Pac became a PPV star after Oscar. Don't fucking act like Floyd was doing 1+ million pre-Oscar. Try comparing Floyd's PPV numbers BEFORE Oscar. ![]() Here's the info, faggot. 1. Arturo Gatti 06/25/05 340,000 2. Zab Judah 04/08/06 350,000 3. Carlos Baldomir 11/04/06 320,000 4. Oscar De La Hoya 2.4 million
