Not set in stone but slated for March 22.
Juan Diaz now looks certain to defend his IBF title against Nate Campbell in Cancun, Mexico. Not sure whether Katsidis is now the WBO champion. The WBO said they would strip Diaz of the title if he didn't fight Katsidis and rocky would be the new belt holder. Hope they stay true to their word. I hope this happens. If Casamayors last fight is anything to go by then Katsidis will win. If he does win then he becomes Ring champion and will attract some big pay days.

Spoken to mike about this I WILL NOT CONFIRM anything as of yet but few things are being worked on and I am sure some news will come out in the next few days.

As for Diaz v Campbell, just when it looked a done deal, it might have hit a snag too. Word is that Diaz's manager and Don King have some disagreements to work through. It all centers on Willy Savannah going ahead amd having Diaz sign to fight Katsidis without Kings approval. |

I would have rather Diaz, Cass has the style that could give Katsidis problems. He looked like shit in his last fight but he still brings that awkwardness.

Sampson Lewkowicz, the advisor for WBO Lightweight champion Michael Katsidis has informed 15rounds.com that Katsidis will take on recognized Lightweight champion Joel Casamayor on March 22 on a bout that will broadcasted by HBO.
Katsidis was thought to have fought WBA/IBF/WBO champ Juan Diaz, but Diaz and his promoter Don King could not come together on an agreement. The bout with Casamayor, 35-3-1 with twenty-one knockouts came together after the Diaz and King decided that the multi-division champ would take on Nate Campbell two weeks earlier in Cancun on HBO. Katsidis, 23-0 with twenty knockouts is coming off an exciting bloodbath victory over Czar Amonsot while Casamayor may have got the early Christmas gift of the year when he scored a disputed decision over Jose Armando Santa Cruz. The bout will be packaged with the replay with the previous week's showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

As much as id like to see this fight, what about Santa Cruz? He got fucked by the judges last fight and was goin to get a rematch. Cassamayor shouldnt even have the Ring belt.
Katsidis to win this one IMO, but im amazed how everyone has jumped off Cassamayor, seeing how we talked this fight a few months ago and nobody was picking Kat to beat him..... only me and Waynesmail. Maybe Cassamayor wasnt up for a fight with his old sparring partner in Santa Cruz ? Could Cassamayor outbox Katsidis for 12 rounds the way Amosot did with some success. |
