Nope. From mainland Europe there's Duillo Loi,Cerdan,Carpentier,Benvenuti.
From the UK there's-Ted Kid Lewis, Wilde, Berg,Lennox Lewis,Lynch and Fitz(though the kiwi's could claim him). Many of them are considered at least equal and some of them clearly better. |

Without a doubt, one of Britains all tmie best. But tbf, Joe is rated so high partially because he made sure he remained unbeaten, but underated also because he was protected.
If he had taken on allcomers like Lewis he would have lost 2 or 3 fights, thats for sure, but would he have been then so well regarded? One things for sure, he wouldnt be so debated - we'd have a firmer idea of his legacy. Maybe his avoidance of losing his unbeaten record actually did him more harm than good? |

The greatest European boxer of all time might be Lazlo Papp.
His wiki: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laszlo_Papp[/ame] There's an old man who posts on another site who travelled around the world watching/managing/promoting boxing for many years, and he says Papp was the best he's ever seen. Last edited by Joe_MacKenzie; 01-16-2012 at 11:42 AM. |

you would have to mention him as one of the best, Nino Benvenuti, Marcel Cerdan,Kid Lewis,Bruno Arcari, Lennox is Canadian/Jamaican but even if you throw him in and others Calzage has to be top 5 but at least top 10....I have him top 5

hes top 2 or 3 from wales, and definitely top ten british but top ten Euro, not really. he comes close but there were too many genuine fighters from EUrope who dominated rather than cherry picking the most obscure version of his title and weak opponents for ten years like Cal did.

No.
The greatest euro would come from Wilde, Lewis or Lewis. Take your pick. Last edited by Threetime no1; 02-27-2012 at 11:00 PM. |
