Hell no it doesn't. I've NEVER heard that, only on Hughes official website have I heard that title defences count as winning 'new' titles.

Its horseshit made up to make his career sound even more impressive. I've never in my life heard anyone refer to someones title defences count as winning new titles.
Did Joe Louis win 25 titles?

Was Muhammad Ali a 3 time HW champion with 19 defences? Or did he win 19 titles

What fucking imbecility. You win titles by moving up and down weight classes or losing a title and winning it back again, you don't re-win your title every time you defend it, you just defend it!

Hughes and GSP are both great. My instinct says that GSP has his digits, and my heart goes along with that pick. Matt has had his (deserved) fifteen minutes of crossover stardom - George has held a strap but is due for his piece of flagship status.

exactly....being a pro at this point in his career and steadily gassing out doesn't qualify as an excuse.....it tells me he's a lazy fuckhead....does he think he could beat Hughes or GSP in the first round and have an easy time doing it. not to mention other fights in his career where he has gassed out....sorry that excuse has been worn out.
