Sorry but if it's a fact it's not an excuse it's obviously his own fault but to make out like gsp has superior skills is rubbish when bj obviously was getting the better of both hughes and gsp. Now being a fighter you need the complete package and bj obviously doesn't train his conditioning enough so there is nobody to blame but himself but if you can't see his losses as down to gassing your obviously not watching the fights.

I don't think anyone is denying that BJ gassed out in some of his fights. And you say despite that, GSP and Hughes don't have superior skills. Well, stamina is a skill in a sport like this.

I think you should have read my post instead of just reading half of it

I did. You mocked the idea that Hughes and St. Pierre might have superior skills to BJ. I merely pointed out that stamina is a skill, and if BJ can't condition himself to a point where he can master that "skill" then he doesn't have superior skills to those fighters.
Yes, you did acknowledge this in the 2nd half of your post. BJ gassed out and didn't deserve to win against GSP, and clearly lost to Hughes after doing well early on. But, in my opinion, the fact that GSP was able to outwork Penn makes him the more skillfull fighter.

So the fact that bj has pretty much supeiror skills in all departments bar one being stamina makes him a less skillful fighter.

If it's the difference between winning and losing, then yes.

However, one could argue that GSP is equally skillfull in most areas as BJ Penn, perhaps moreso in some, perhaps less in others.
To make the blanket statement that Penn has superior skills in all departments is questionable.

One could argue that but other than stamina, takedowns and general wrestling ability i can't see what gsp could have over bj. In regards to the wrestling bj's balance and superior ju jitsu counter that pretty easily.

So, BJ then isn't necessarily superior to GSP in every way.

Well, apparently not enough to get a win.

Well, perhaps I misunderstood you. Were you not earlier making the point that Penn was superior in every way to GSP except in stamina? Or were you simply posing that as a hypothetical since you've since said that GSP is superior in stamina, wrestling, and takedowns.

I said he was pretty much superior in most ways, that isn't a 100 % better at everything that means in general he is better than gsp in more ways than he is worse than gsp at.

Fair enough. I just think that's a debateable claim. Many in the sport have called GSP the best all around fighter. Many have called BJ Penn. Some have claimed neither is #1.

I honestly think anderson silva is the p4p number one at the moment, but bj, gsp, kid yamamoto, hendo, page and Calvancante could all make claims to.

Silva is an excellent choice. Should have his hands full with Henderson, though.

I hope st Pierre wins...but you never know what's gonna happen in this damn sport...Afterall , Serra defeated him...and we all know that gsp is one of the most skilled in mma.
