Joe would have outpointed 'stay at home' Andre through workrate, no doubt in a scrappy fight.
I'm not sure if Ward even beats today's Bernard Hopkins, but it is certainly a fight I NEVER want to see. I respect Ward's ability but his style makes for ugly fights. When Calzaghe was on song there were few better sights in boxing. |

Pretty misleading title and article.
I think he's probably right, Ward is a very good fighter, but Calzaghe is one fighter who had the attributed to beat him. Faster hands, adept on the inside, outside, and midrange. He would match Ward for strength on the inside too... To me the biggest advantage Ward has is that he is able to get his shots off much quicker on the inside than the guys he's been fighting, and he's quick on the outside which draws them in. Calzaghe would nullify those 2 advantages and he'd have better stamina too. It would be an ugly fight but I'd expect Calzaghe to prevail. We'll never see it though. |
