Poll above and leave your thoughts below.
With Guerrero apparently out of the picture, it seems like we may be down to Cotto and Alvarez for a potential May 5, 2012 fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. With that in mind, the question for the thread is: How would you feel about a possible Mayweather-Cotto fight? ![]() ![]()

Remember, also: The rumor was Team Floyd was going to talk with Cotto about a possible fight at the annual WBC Convention in Vegas in December 2011.
I'll dig up the thread if and when the fight is made. Again, sounds like the PBF-Cotto fight may have already been set-up before the latest supposed "call outs" of Pacquiao on Twitter. |

I wanted Floyd vs Cotto for a long time and now that it's official that pacman is a bitch I really want Cotto Mayweather.
I think Cotto deserves it even tho he will get dominated. I think Mayweather will have a slight challenge with Cottos jabs and if Cotto decides to go to the body. And they are both my favorite fights. To me this is the real super fight as I believe Cotto has more of a chance than pac. |

would have been more exciting years ago, but I wouldnt mind seeing this. Cotto still seems to have a lot left, and he s hould give Floyd a good challege.

If he chickens out of the pac fight again then Cotto is the next best or Martinez but thats all wishfull thinking as both are still dangerous & Floyd only fights low risk opponants.

So many people will shit on this fight if it is made, but Cotto has a reasonable chance. Cotto is a lot better than people think he is these days... I am not saying Cotto is a sure thing, obviously Floyd has the clear advantage. I just don't think the skill gap between these two fighters is as wide as some other people believe.
I know someone is going to mention the last half of the Pac/Cotto fight, so I want to preemptively address that. I think Cotto fought the wrong fight that night, and his corner sure as hell wasn't helping him. So yeah, I really like this fight. I will be pretty excited if it gets made. |

It's a fight that should've happened already. Better late than never, and even better if it's at 154 with Cotto having a bit of an advantage having fought there the past couple years.

Cotto is a great fighter but his style will not work even though he have a big punch. He is not quick enough on his feet or hands. He got power, Boxing IQ. won't be enough but who the hell have enough besides Martinez and the only reason Martinez have a solid chance is bc he got 20lbs on Floyd after rehyrdrate.
