This will help to destroy amatuer boxing if it is ever implemented. If they take away the headgears there will be a drastic increase in the amount of cuts sustained in bouts. Amatuer boxing is about learning and the vast majority of them still have alot to learn. Amatuers clash heads/foreheads quite abit, only now your going to see some real damage. From the fouls and from the blows. I haven't even got into the cauliflower ear yet.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Have you ever even had a fight? And do you know what it takes to stay on a national team, how hard the international competition is? The level is so high it's insane. Many amaterus turn pro because they have no chance in getting a medal at the big championships. And if you want to make it as a good amateur boxer, you have to train and live like a professional.

And there won't be many more knockouts without the helmet. It just looks better for the spectators when there's no helmets. It also creates more media interest to the sport. They are trying to resurrect the Olympic style of boxing. It is already much bigger than ever.

For elite/senior level of amateur boxing.

And it's still 3 x 3 mins.

senior as in the age bracket of senior (one up from junior), or for the senior euro/world championships?
Or am I confusing senior with open?

So up to and including regional, national competitions, there would still be headgear?

No, all elite/senior aged boxers no matter what level they are fighting on will not use headgear.

so a senior aged boxer who is a novice fighting another novice senior aged guy wouldn't be using head gear? I know the concept wasn't exactly super specific but I thought it was only high level competition under AIBA sanctioning. USA Boxing guidelines should still be applying in National level competition

Sounds like they are turning the AM's into Semi Pro, which blows.

Keep the headgear for lower skill levels.

10 point system is OK so long as its open scoring, otherwise that blows also.
