R.I.P Angelo Dundee
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Angelo Dundee, the brilliant motivator who worked the corner for Muhammad Ali in his greatest fights and willed Sugar Ray Leonard to victory in his biggest bout, died Wednesday in Tampa, Fla.
He was 90.
The genial Dundee was best known for being in Ali's corner for almost his entire career, but those in boxing also knew him as an ambassador for boxing and a figure of integrity in a sport that often lacked it.
He died with his family surrounding him, said son, Jimmy Dundee, but not before being able to attend Ali's 70th birthday bash in Louisville, Ky., last month.

Re: R.I.P Angelo Dundee
RIP Angelo. Major, major, major, major loss to the boxing world.
I am very glad to say that I was able to meet Angelo more than once and he was a fantastic person. A really great guy. He was fantastic with fans and never was mean or angry. His stories were hilarious and he was full of knowledge.
One of my favorite memories of my entire life was seeing him and Bert Sugar on stage at the boxing hall of fame a few years ago telling stories to the crowd.
It's really sad, just a few years ago he was walking around fine, then last year he was in a wheel chair but still in great spirits and a joy to be around.
Whenever I saw him I made sure to take in the moment because he was old and I knew it might be the last time I'd ever see him, and unfortunately, I'll never see him again.
