Default Another thing that we learned:

If theres one thing the Wanderlei-Liddell fight did tell us was that you can hit a tire as hard as you can with a sledgehammer, you can flip a tire as hard as you can, you can run around lifting weights while wearing a snorkel as much as you can but nothing..........nothing replaces roadwork for improving cardiovascular.

The sooner some of the MMA guys realize this the better.
Roadwork is NOT obsolete and never will be, no matter what these douchebag new trainers say with their 'revolutionairy' new techniques.

I don`t think Silva`s conditioning was the reason he lost that fight. So, whats your point?

If Silva had climbed in ice baths between rounds and been able to wear his snorkel of doom, he would have won!

i don't know what you are talking about. silva lost because of his relative short reach and the skill of liddel and not because of his "revolutionary new techniques." besides, silva seemed to be in good shape during the fight and this could be attributed to his snorkeling techniques. and who is to say that silva didn't do any roadwork?

I didn't see him doing any roadwork on All Access.
And what happened to you hating MMA?

Liddell's longer arms and Wanderlai's unwillingness to go in and work the muay thai clinch is what cost him this fight. Silva has always been amazingly strong in the clinch with knees and elbows - so why he would avoid that is beyond me.

just finished watching the fight...
in the 3rd wanderlei had a golden opportunity to demolish liddell because the guy had totally drained his energy..but unfortunately silva was dead tired too..... great fight though ! but not the "fight of the year".

ooooh. so just because you didn't see him do any roadwork on all access means that he does no roadwork at all.

so just because you never seen him take a dump doesn't mean he doesn't take a dump?

(that was a rhetorical quesiton)

Roadwork, rowing, swimming etc are the good old cardio workouts and I'd stil preach them today. Not to mention practical training like sparring.

Plus fights are won and loss with talent, tools and intangiables. Chuck was the slightly smarter guy with the slightly better tools.
