Default Khaosai Galaxy vs Sung-Kil Moon

Power vs Power.

Who takes it?

Tough one.

Galaxy's best punches were straight down the pipe, so him potentially being able to punch inside the looping bombs of Moon and beat him to the punch while Moon potentially loading up on something big\not being fully aware would be a strong technical advantage.

He's also the more accurate of the two.

On the other hand Moon had better hand and foot speed and would be able to handle being pushed back easier, as he could still awkwardly use the ring and spring forward. This will be important as whoever turns out to be stronger and able to push the other onto the defensive could end up holding the edge for large chunks of each round.

Moon also has a better jaw, i've seen Galaxy buzzed and hurt briefly a few times by mediocre punchers.Off hand i can't remember Moon being rocked similarly.

How Galaxy copes with the brute force forward momentum, awkward punching\body movement and an opponent willing to throw bomb after bomb at him instead of the usual more methodical, or fighting to survive tomato can challenger fare would also be key.we know Moon won't change his style even against another top-notch puncher(Konadu), i'm not so sure about Galaxy. He did beat Contreras, but he was never much of a fighter other than his power and quite raw at the time.

Moon had the better run imo,and fought more formidable fighters(even past prime Roman was still better than 99% of Galaxy's challengers)but in a battle of two massive punchers without a big gap in talent, that could count for nothing with one well delivered shot.

Moon was rocked against Khaokor in a rematch.

Also he was down versus Konadu but i can't remember if Moon was really hurt in that fight.

Still i'd say Galaxy looked like he was easier fighter to hurt between the two.

Your post sums up two fighters pretty good though i see you also hesitant to give one fighter a definitive edge.

You're right, i totally forgot about the Khaokor fights to be honest.I was thinking of their superfly reigns really.I'd need to rewatch the fight to be absolutely sure, but i don't remember him being shaken against Konadu.Balance\flash knockdowns more than anything.

By the way, does anyone know anything about a rematch of the only loss of Galaxy's career?

Boxrec doesn't list this fight but some record books say he stopped Sak Galaxy (Sakda Saksuree) in 6 rounds.

Rewatched it - yeah, flash/balance knockdowns, nothing serious.

On a side note it looks like Moon had more raw punching power behind his punches than Galaxy, in my opinion.

He probably did.Brutal clubbing power.

Galaxy was the better pure KO artist though.Cleaner one shot knockdouts.

Moon didn't have as good punchpicking, but would just buffet fighters around and shake them to the core with punches that only partially landed or even hit arms\gloves.

he was from the Marciano school of powerpunching.JUst hit anything.

By the way Galaxy's "brute strength" looked a little bit overrated sometimes.

Against Matsumura he was bullied a lot and fought mostly off the back foot.

There were also a couple of fights (don't remember exact fights) where he didn't press the action like he supposedly should've done.

Moon took one of the worst one-sided beatings I gVe ever seen before going down against Khaoker, who was vastly superior in every way to his twin other than pure power, and he still got up and did the distance!

Moon would muller Khaosai, badly.

your post may hold the key for a galaxy fan flea man .moon did take a beating as you say against khaokor and although khaosai was certainly not technically as good as his brother he did have more power and his punches were straight so when moon wings his wide shots galaxy's straighter more powerful shots would do there damage

He'd also ship more than Khaokor though.

Khaosai's straight shooting, coupled with his power, would spell trouble for Moon IMO.
