Default Roberto Duran plays with a young Nigel Benn!

7:34- duran lands his first 2 and only proper punches of the whole session. thats when the sparring could have turned nasty if it wasnt for durans awesome defensive mastery!

i say duran was going easy throughout, benn wasat times trying to knock durans head off with no success.

it would have been interesting if they had fought for real!

In a real fight I don't think Duran has much of a chance. Benn seemed somewhat tentative about putting too much of a hurt on the old warrior.

Duran got Benn's timing in the second round, and made the session look interesting. Benn seemed to be punching like he was sparring, not fighting. Even when he was speeding up after Duran's adjustment.

I really enjoyed viewing this. Thanks Big N Bad for posting the link.

no problem mate

the second round was nice to watch.

werety- i think it comes with experience, but it depends on what type of fighter you are, i dont see tyson doing anything similar even now. where as i can expect a James Toney to be able to do slick stuff like that.

I remember that sparring session, it was very late 80's .. Duran older yet wiser gave a great insight of young v old in these sessions,Nigel was a special talent and Duran never allowed him the upper hand at all.. i remember that same week Tim Witherspoon fighting a mexican fat kid in the York Hall.. His name was Mauricio Villegas and Tim stopped him around 9.

looks like pea**** gym in london but could be wrong, great vid, a near peak Benn and an old Duran, but this was school sparring, no intent, nothing heavy
