Who knows, I think Floyd will outbox him, Roberto Durans aggressiveness would get to floyd after a while, but Floyd would probably win by a decision

Mayweather is too quick and too smart for Duran at any weight.

Duran was a more skilled boxer than Mayweather. Even in a center of the ring chess match, he'd out-do Mayweather (and then some). He was simply more skilled, fluid, less robotic, and had an sixth-sense in the ring when it comes to positioning and functional defensive moves on the attack that Floyd, despite his great reflexes and speed, doesn't quite possess.

If Floyd is to beat Duran, this will probably be the weight. Duran, being a natural LW, tired much quicker at 154 and above. Mayweather will use his skills to eek out a points win. It will still be close, though.

This is 154 where Duran apologists claim he was past it and couldn't catch upto a quick defensive the way he used to. If that's true Duran stands a chance against Mayweather at 135-147, but not at 154. If it's not true he just couldn't handle elite pure boxers

What Floyd has going for him in this one is that at 147 and above he was consistently alright to very good...whereas Duran's performances ranged from putting the G in ATG to just plain terrible.
Apart from his body punching/thumbing clinic of Moore there wasn't really any performances that really stood out for me from jnrmiddle Duran. Still I don't think Floyd's shift to Tonyesque defensive traits is totally by design..He just hasn't looked the same kind of brilliant at 147 or 154 for that matter and I think he extra poundage has put some ankle weights on him a bit. |
