Good post. That is fair enough mate.

Ok man, chill. You know I love you. No problems, I thought the nuthuggerness of old timers got the better of you. I was wrong.

Chill? You don't catch me brandishing you with all sorts of false labels. Yes, false - I do not 'nuthug' old timers.

On paper the Toney fight was probably his best win, but thats in hindsight with the weight problems and overall performance of Toney on the night I'd have to sway towards the Ruiz win.

Jones going up against Ruiz and Toney are different matters altogether when it comes to the physical elements of both those fighters. But lets not forget, Toney was rated P4P the best fighter in the world along with Whitaker when Jones more or less shut him out. When it comes to a super-middleweight Toney and a heavyweight Ruiz, no contest when its pure skill and ability.

Many thought Jones was too inexperienced and not good enough to deal with a ring mechanic like Toney. He was the underdog. He was the favourite against Ruiz though, probably most were going for Jones 70/30 in his favour.

You haven't taken any time to look at Roy Jones's career?

I know you to be someone who spends certain amounts of time on particular fighters, studying and analyzing them, etc. Have you not gotten around to analyzing guys like Hopkins, Jones, Mayweather, etc because their careers are not yet finished?

All time or curent?
I have Roy Jones Jr. high on my all time list but I don't think he is a curent p4per. Mayweather is my curent #1 p4p. He has done pretty every thing I would expect of an all time great. His opistion has been beter tan his detractors clame, but he still needs to beat someone who is precived to be his equal or better before he breaks in to my all time list. Pacquiao is my #3 curent p4p4r (Juan Daiz is #2). If he beats Marquaiz he will pass Daiz but not Mayweather. H is an exciting fighter with exlent wins over Moralas and Berera. I would like to see him win a lightweight tittle before he makes my all time list. I'm not as high on Hopkins as some people are. Sure Tarver had bat Jones Jr. but Jones Jr. was past his prime. If the Wright fight had taken place at 160 not 170 I would be very impresed with Hopkins win. However at 170 Hopkins should have won and he did win. He is allso not on my all time great list. However if there was a all time great prime vs prime middleweight turment Hopkins would be my choice for underdog darkhorse.

Do me a favor and stop nut-hugging the old timers.

Agreed, outside of the ring the times are different now, so they aren't as appealing. Pernell Whitaker doesn't have the same appeal as Joe Loius for example away from the ring.

Inside the ropes, fighters today are as appealing as fighters from 50-60 years ago IMO. I don't see much difference in terms of technique, ability, speed, etc.

The Corrales v Castilio fight is as good as any fight you want to come forward with involving any fighter from 60-70 years ago. And fighters like Whitaker and Mayweather are just as skilled as your Pep's and Armstrongs.

Jones without question the fastest fighter in the history of the sport. Thats me calling it as I see. Infact, I don't think its up for much arguement. People will on the odd ocassion make a case for Taylor, Leonard, Robinson, Ali, etc.

Well that last sentence was to antagonize you as I assumed you were trying to do to me. But upon review it seems you were actually being serious. Roy Jones and the others mentioned bore you. I don't get it. But oh well, to each his own.

Jones and Hopkins are firmly in it. Mayweather and Pac are on the fringes of it as of now. That of course could change, but I wouldn't put them anywhere within the top 100 with any certainty at the minute. Time will tell.

People that are putting Mayweather top 30 are jumping the gun imo. But I suppose if you think he's undefeated it's not altogether rediculous.
