First learn to keep your elbows tight to block body shots where you can. Then it's a case of all of your sit-ups, leg raises, Russian twists coming into play and taking enough of the impact away so that you can just suck up the rest.

keep your elbow tucked. idk if it was the liver but thats the worst possible spot to be hit. also remember in amateur if you take a knee to get a count its not counted against you

I have never had any use with ab workouts for reducing body damage. Technique in taking the blow and pain tolerance have helped me tremendously. Exhale and coil your body without bringing your face to their fist.

You can't toughen the area, what you can do though is learn to prevent it. Keep your elbows tucked in well and never keep them out like chicken wings especially if your a beginner .. I would hit this new guy in the liver each time as a single shot to make him learn to put his elbow in but all he would do is take the shot.. he eventually 'reported' me saying i was too rough.
