God, this is just like Emanuel Steward. They are actually still going back and forth about whether or not he's alive or in critical condition, lads. I'm reading that he was dead for three minutes and they got him back also, whether that's true or not. What a circus. This is what is is this day and age. It's not a news source confirming it with the doctor who would know before reporting it and everyone following suit, it's damnable Twitter and Myspace or whatever and rumours and misinformation.

Macho Camacho is alive and being treated overnight at Puerto Rico hospital. No brain death, either. No further news till tomorrow morning.

Hope Hector pulls through.Despite his career, seemed like a somewhat decent guy, in a colorful way.

Macho Camacho is NOT, repeat, NOT dead, man.

I've followed the Spanish-language tweets from Michelle Estrada, professional journalist at Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and she has confirmed the information I have shared above.

Cheers.

Macho Camacho was shot once in the face and suffered Cervical 5 and 6 as well as carotid fractures. The bullet has lodged in his right shoulder.

I would say he is lucky to be alive. From the looks of it, he has a chance.

Let's pray for him tonight.

I hope he pulls through. Given his lifestyle, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Yeah, agreed with the above posters. I hope he pulls through too- a KNOB he may have been but everyone's life is precious...

I remember in a Ring Magazine circa 1991 or 92 there was snap of Comacho raiding his fridge, just a 'at home' photo that the magazine dislpayed in its What fighters are up to Section.

Anyways, Hector had a handgun innocently placed on top of the fridge- you wouldn't have noticed it with the bowls, teatowles and other kitchen crap...just a strange sight to see in the family kitchen!
