Default Any news on Abdusalamov-Pettaway?

Two undefeated heavies today. The winner takes a good step forward.

Who gave you permission to post in the Euro room? Go back to gay San Francisco.

Unbeaten Magomed Abdusalamov (14-0, 14 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over previously unbeaten Jason Pettway (11-1, 8 KOs) to claim the vacant WBC Silver heavyweight belt. Pettaway was down in the fourth and the doctor asked for a halt at 1:20 of the round.

I saw the thread over on the main forum. Intentional said Mago didn't look good. Too bad.

Silly Cachi...doesn't know his boxing. Thinks Pettaway was a big prospect, as opposed to being another cherry-picked opponent for Mago.

Tsk...tsk...tsk...

Pettaway certianly isn't a bum and after the 1st minute of the 1st round it was a one sided fight. Mago landed lots of power shots and stunned him almost every time he landed. How you look at that fight and question his power i have no idea. He's not a defensive wizard but he didn't get hit with anything real significant in the fight, it looked fine.

Mago is very easy to hit. Poor defence, bad movement with legs, but has outstanding power for a heavyweight lefty. I hope Pablo Sarmiento will teach him with the counter style of Sergio Martinez. Just need to be more concentrated and smart, to work out on his foot work and everythinkg will be great for him. Abdusalamov got Huge potential.

Magomed looked maybe C-level, at best.

He brings nothing to the table except decent power.

And even his power is being questioned now...he hit Pettaway with every but the kitchen sink for three rounds before getting the stoppage.

Mago looked better last night than in his last fight and his weight keeps dropping. 221 last night, down from 227 just six weeks ago.

I find him interesting and good for the division.

The Russian feed of the fight is on Youtube and it is typical of how they look at boxing/fighting. Their announcers are very low key and never even inflect their voices even at the end when Pettaway is getting whacked around the ring. While from what I heard the U.K and U.S. broadcasters were having a hissy fit over the referree not stopping the fight sooner.

I also think that it should have been stopped earlier.

However, I agree that the U.S. and U.K. announcers are extremely obnoxious. Their speaking style is intended to be lowbrow entertainment. Hence, the nauseating voice inflections, caustic changes in tonality, etc.

Too bad English speaking nations don't do the Russian style announcing. Years ago, the low key analytical approach was the norm in the U.K...remember Harry Carpenter? He was great. But now we have the obnoxious Bunce, who is every bit as bad as most of his American counterparts.

The spastic Harold Lederman is, perhaps, most annoying of all.
