I still feel like people are rating Louis on his technical ability to finish an opponent rather than his transcended ability into different eras.

Lets Flip him with some of the other fighters on that list and imagine how easily he finishes fighters on their resume.

In turn how easily would that fighter finish similar opponent in Louis's era.

I think i would rate Tyson as the best here, rare for me to say, but i think in any given era he had the physical and technical ability to finish most fighters that other fighters on that list could finish and is most cases with more ease

Pretty darn easily, in most cases.

The bigger the fighter, the bigger the target.

My top 5 are prety much interchangable.

Dempsey absolutely belongs, and his destruction of Willard should count in his favour, in this argument!

I just dont see it.

Does his technical ability mean he beats most of the big tough 90s guys? I would say he could take a decision over many of them.

Can he put them away? I wouldnt say so.

Does his H2H ability get over rated to hell here? Yes.

indeed , and in Louis' case most of times they were either even less than cruiserweights or really low quality cruiserweights .

Based on his anihilation of Buddy Baer, I doubt that he would need to resort to the score cards to put away most of the top fighters of the 90s.

Indeed, I can't see why you see their size to be an issue in the first place.

Louis clearly did better against bigger fighters in his own era, for example he destroyed Primo Carnera and Buddy Baer while he needed lots of rounds to catch Billy Conn and Bob Pastor.

He might just find the 90s to be the best era for showcasing his talents.

I know its just one of those things where we will have to agree to disagree.

I am not saying their size would be the issue, i just feel the big 90s men where a better crop that the big men who Louis fought.

Mercer was ruthless.

Who was the guy hanging through the ropes who was clearly gone, but he took a free shot at anyway?

The Morrison finish was pretty sick too.

Not sure why Vitali would be on anyone's list, he's not a particularly clinical finisher, never has been.

That might hold true if you are talking about Lewis or Bowe, but I am not sure that guys like Akiniwande, Grant, Gollota etc were better than the big guys Louis was dismanteling.

Lewis is very good, if not the best, at finishing big men in quick fashion but he struggles with some smaller guys.
