Yeah with only 6 British fighters ever inducted into the WBHOF (Barry being one) and not too many into the IBHOF either.

How come he/they never talk about these fighters, do a little profile on them, and just give British fans and other viewers too a little historical insight and build up for fights. Bringing that much needed injection helping revive Boxing.

they talk so much repetitive shit, where as these profiles and historical peices would be far more interesting and exciting along with the major fights!

ask him that, or suggest it!

just to touch on a point another poster made; The like of the BBC and ITV and maybe to a lesser extent, the satellite channels, would all have a huge catalogue of fights from yesteryear just sitting gathering dust in their archives. Ask him would it not be a good idea for a programme of sorts to show off these many great fights to a younger generation, and also for the older generation to revisit. I mean, they own quite a lot of these fights and its a waste to leave them away in a room whereas if they were shown, they could bring a whole lot of new fans to the sport.

Dunno if thats a good question or not but id certainly be interested to hear what he says

Ask about his loss to Stevie Cruz in the smoldering heat in Texas. did he suffer from the heat cause Cruz wasn´t particulary well known or considered a threat

Ask if he had any heroes in boxing and how he developed his skills to become such a good technician

Would he have fancied his chances against Chavez, Nelson and Gomez and how he would have approached those fights. How would he have done against Hamed if both were in their prime? Who is his top5 British boxers over the last 30years and top5 World boxers over the last 30 years.

I think you can pass on regards from all of ESB that we're fans of the great man in and out the ring, especially with his work for cancer charities. You could ask him nicely to post on the Classic forum too

barry said he had a bad ancle and wanted to call off the fight, he maintains that if he was not made to fight in the heat there is no way he would have fell over the second time - otherwise (not that he says he would have wanted to keep the title that way anyway) it would have been a draw on the scorecards.

He wanted gomez but admitted wilfredo would not have been at his best at that time, so he felt that was a winnable fight at the time and could (should) have been made.

Nelson, barry said with hindsight seeing as he went on to become the greatest african fighter of all time always would have beat him. he admited that. However he would have loved to have fought him.

His greatest fantasy fight would always be salvadar shansez. he is a big fan.

He said bernard was a fantastic boxer. barry admitted he was well outboxed but felt cheated (and looked cross talking about it) that bernard quit as soon as barry began to get to him. He wanted to finish him off for the crowd. he says as a fighter you should always want to leave it in a ring not on a stool.
