Quite frankly, no.

I was never impressed with his punching power even in his earlier "Little Tyson" days.

His punches never looked crisp to me.

It was more a combination of Guzman's speed, talent and overmatched opponents that earned him reputation as a puncher, in my opinion.

By the way i even remember Ring magazine listed Guzman's right hand as the hardest punch in super bantamweight division

The only time Guzman truly demonstrated good punching power was against ancient-coming out of 3 year layoff Agapito Sanchez.

And moving up in weight didn't help matters either.

Donaire was certainly a bw and the way he destroyed montiel was very impressive.

Literally if someone doesn't agree with your opinion you have a very stubborn approach to responding. What more could donaire have done after winning every round with ease? It takes two to tango sir

Guzman was always a style over substance slopfest, even though he did have a good amount of raw talent earlier in his career. He never developed it.

Nowhere near one of the most formidable at any weight.

I agree with everyone on John Thomas list except at MW I would put Monzon. Also if we're going to give guys a 24 hour weigh in I nominate Panama Al Brown for flyweight, as he could easily made 112 then rehydrated to featherweight.

Fair assessment, he certainly did wing his shots

He would have beat a few top FWs in history Pacquaio and Barrera included

No but then again few in history would be, most gain a few pounds after, these days they gain more and maybe cheat a bit with diuretics and water manipulation if they're smart

I had him, but I'm a 'hater' so what do I know? The real answer is Rodel Mayol, a bantam in most other era's I imagine and much more modern than the Brazilian.

Nonito actively bragged about coming in over 130lbs against Narvaez. That's the difference.

Montiel was heavier than him. But if they were feathers weighing in on the day, the win would be just as prestigious.
