It is interesting that both picked Marciano over Tyson... I'm sure there's a degree of bias there, but they seem honest about the other topics and fond of Marciano.

They picked Marciano .... and why not ?
Both guys would be coming at each other with dynamite in their fists, anything could happen.

Yes, there's always a bit of bias towards fighters of your own era.

Nice article. Lowry-Marciano was filmed? I'd love to see that fight. Simmons seems to make a point about Marciano's improvements from the time he fought till the time he was champ.

Though this picture does not show it, Simmions opened up a nasty cut on Marciano. One of the Marcaino books ( Could be Undefeated ) suggests that if Rocky wasn't undefeated the ring doctor might have stopped it.

I like that Simmons mentions fun in training camp, but says he can't tell stories. I respect that. In old days what guys did in camp, or what baseball and football players did in clubhouse or road, a man kept quiet. Now everyone snitches on each other, or tires to sell the story to someone. Two classy guys.

I respect that too.

People are given too many "drinking, gambling, whoring" tales, true or untrue. I'd like to think the men with the "cleanest" role-model images were the guys with friends who kept their mouths shut.
They had private lives, just like the rest of us.
