Default Is this 16 year old the best heavyweight prospect since Lewis and Bowe???

Stepping up a division at 16 to qualify for the olympics suggest this guy's ducking no one as a pro (Damien Hooper already had the light heavy spot tied up) like Solis or Povetkin. Is Jai Opetaia the best prospect at heavy since Lewis and Bowe in the late 80's. Kid can do everything and will only get stronger and better. The heavyweight resurgence isn't too far away. Great boxer, aggresive and very elusive. (please don't move thread would love classic's opinion on this)

He's not 17 yet for another 3 months. Is currently bigger than 176 pounds, just qualified for the Olympics at heavyweight.

Tough to tell because he still looks like a junior in the video you posted.

Don't see him qualifying for the games if he was going through Europe TBH. Much easier to become an olympian from Australasia.

I wish the kid the best of luck.
Any 16 or 17 year old fighting seniors in international matches should be encouraged, and acknowledged as serious prospects for future professional careers.
I wouldn't want to burden him with too much expectations though by talking about Lennox Lewis or Riddick Bowe !

Ten Aussies qualified but most wouldn't make top ten in the Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Russia, Cuba or top five in Uk, Ireland, India etc.
Having said that he is a good prospect as is Hooper, but for example would he win a European title a few months after he is 17, like Joe Ward?
