Williams struggles with guys much smaller than Margarito, with rubber legs and no punches coming back.

Williams is in for a shock next saturday, and it may even require some smelling salts to wake up from. As they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

And for the record, Cintron is also about the same size as Margarito. Size means shit in this case. Williams presents a big enough target that sharpness won't matter.

Williams needs to learn to use his size more effectively IMO.

Has Margarito had problems getting ready for this fight like he did for Clottey?

None whatsoever, and he has looked very good in training.

The Clottey fight was rushed, and of course the two injuries didn't help. They had particularly bad sparring too. None of that this time around so he should be as sharp as ever.

Nope. Nothing that I read. I hope, and think, both guys will be 100%.

Even if he does there is only one thing that Margarito will respect and that is power. Santos at 170lbs was able to shake Margarito up, but he couldn't stop his advances.

Williams is gonna have to hit him harder than that and tbh the fact that Pakau lasted as long as he did, and the fact that Mathyesse basically didn't go out until he was winded tells me that Williams is not a big puncher.

So if he lacks Kermit Cintron-esque power, he has little choice but to trade with Margarito. Even if he tries to box he's gonna get caught in exchanges, and that will benefit the champion over the long run.

Before Clottey got injured I thought he would walk away with it after how the first 4 rounds went. Did you?

I had no doubts.

I was a bit concerned when I read that he injured himself prior, but I already knew Joshua Clottey had limits. He tired against Gutierrez and Baldomir and I just knew the kind of pressure and pace Margarito would set would be too much. You have to remember that Baldomir and Gutierrez are also pressure fighters, they just don't throw as many punches as Margarito does.

I don't buy into the bruised knuckle stopping him theory like so many others. Fact of the matter is around rounds 3-4 Margarito really started to beat on Clottey's arms and body, and about round 6 Clottey was gassed. Sure his hand was hurting, but you aren't gonna tell me that throwing a punch with a bruised knuckle will stop you. Not if you are true championship material.

The reach is what is getting me toooooooooooo....

If Margo throw wide, loopy stuff and Williams stays outside and boxes and puts together combos from distance will Margo get caught forcing his way in? Or will he even be able to get in....

Also I can buy the Clottey getting gassed theory but I mean realistically he just stopped in that 5th round...if he stopped and took some rounds off couldn't he muster anything later on?

With Williams significant reach advantage he could simply win this fight on the outside by throwing jabs and double jabs with straight rights. But his pride tells him to do other things. We'll see what happens.

That is hard to do when you have someone like Margarito on you. He just doesn't stop coming forward throwing punches. No rest time really except for between rounds.

Why do you think he tried moving in the 10th? He was trying to get some energy

The fight is intriguing. I'm going with Margo. The way Mitchell took so damn many of his punches when Mayweather just pounded him to the canvas makes me question his power to some extent.

He throws alot, but he does so very reckless. He leaves his chin way up in the air and falls in with his work, very bad idea for someone of his size.

He also does not punch with the sort of authority he'd need to keep someone like Margarito off of him.

Size will not matter here.
