Depends. If you want to learn either you will have to work out how much of a tosser you are

I'm pretty sure I gave you advice.

Neither is any good in modern MMA. Learn Greco-Roman Wrestling and JiuJitsu; together they're far superior to the throws and submissions of a judoka

Sambo and Judo are very good comprehensive self defence forms with Sambo especially encompassing a wider range of techniques.

But Ive got to agree with Will here GR Wrestling and BJJ are the way to go if you are interested in competing in MMA as Judo is relatively limited when you take a Gi out of the equation and Sambo spreads itself too thin in trying to encompass a wide range of techniques which will leave holes in your game which can be exploited

but if you haven't learned judo or sambo would that not leave you vunerable to be takendown by someone that knows it ?

sorry for not understanding but what do you mean when you say " spreads itself to thin in trying to encompass a wide range of techniques which will leave holes in your game which can be exploited "

Well basically what I mean is that Sambo is developed for disabling enemy soldiers in a combat situation by picking the most effective techniques from wrestling, JJ and Judo.

But the problem with this is whilst it's an effective and explosive way to end a fight as quickly as possable, it doesnt really develop the basic fundamentals to get you in that advantageous position against someone who is versed in, for example, BJJ.

In short, its a jack of all trades, and master of none. It would be ok for out wrestling a BJJ guy, or out BJJing a wrestler, but you will always come up short in terms of application of techniques against a accomplished wrestler or a BJJ black belt. So rather than developing a base with little bits of every style, you are much better of concentrating solely on wrestling and BJJ training, with guys who are life long practitioners in those arts

It's like the old saying 'jack of all trades...master of none'. It's a combination of boxing and judo but watered down.

ok I understand what you mean now, thanks alot for going to the trouble of explaining it in detail, appreciate it

I've already decided to learn Jiu Jitsu and really dedicate myself to learning it.

Just was looking for another style to learn.

so you don't think I should learn judo or sambo to go along with the Jiu Jitsu

No problem fella. I really think that Judo is the way to go out of the two if you want to supplement you BJJ training as obviously it will give you a good base in getting the fight to where you can apply your submissions on the ground.

Depends on your goals, do you want to fight MMA or just learn BJJ or maybe compete in BJJ tournaments? For MMA I'd say wrestling, for BJJ either wrestling or judo will compliment your BJJ well but for now just concentrate on your jits.

Sambo is like the MMA version of Judo so I'd have to say Sambo.
