Default Is Joe Gallagher dangerous....

I mean.... has there ever been a trainer so apparently inept at drilling his fighters in terms of their defensive skills?

He's had lots of talent walk into that gym, and they all seem to morph into flat footed, average punching plodders that get hit constantly - seemingly the only hope is to have a better chin than your opponent or hope that he's got Paulie type power.

John Murray - banged up and stopped x2
Steven Smith - banged up and stopped vs Selby
Paul Smith - blasted out by Groves
Macklin - face first slugging vs Sturm
Joe Murray- ragged as hell every fight
Quigg - getting hit more and more in recent fights

And now Crolla....

It seems the 42-0 or whatever it was t-shirts have well and truly come back to bite him on the ****.

I know it's the ''Manchester style'' but FFS, how hard can it be to come up with a few defensive tricks, and implement them?

For all the **** that I've given Vince Cleverly.... on recent form there ain't much to choose between them.

I think he is a terrible trainer, all his fighters take way too much punishment

TBH Jim Watt made a comment early in fight that struck a cord with me when he said 'when i first saw Crolla he looked a nice boxer but not strong but now he's stronger'(Paraphrasing). Really Crolla has become stronger and has now decided to march forward with gloves blocking face. Bullying and breaking down opponents. Now that wasn't the kid i first saw fighting...

Squared up on shoulders and coming in straight lines, I dunno but from the entrance music hitting i sensed he thought he could just hit Derry's nose and it was game over.

Pressure fighting isn't walking forward covering face and landing few jabs and body shots and then getting stuck in on inside. There seems to be a lack of craft about the 'Manchester style' and it's being shown up.

I think the formula run out a while back, Look what Selby did to Smith who again just steamed in. There's no angles, there's a variety of punches and effectiveness but not much else.

Scrub P Smith and Murray from that list. They were just overmatched.

gallaghers fighters dont seem to move their heads, at all. even cursory side to side head movement and move pivoting off his front foot and crolla would have stopped mathews imo

i reckon Gallaghers "expert ****ysis" consists of him and his fighters sitting down to watch a Rocky movie. Their defenses are not just ****, their non existent.

Pressure isnt effective if you cant avoid shots on the way in, look at Chavez & Frazier who had great head movement

Joe Gs fighters just plough straight forward, upright & gloves high. There doesnt seem to be any real craft or method to the madness

I like him..

I like his violent style of training.

I am a big fan of violence inside of the ring.

I'm quite new to Crolla.... After watching the build up I was expecting to see something very different from him...

You have to question the sparring. Crolla had no clue what to do when he got hurt. Surly this sort of stuff should get covered of in sparring?

Its like he teaches his fighters to fight like a Mexican but without the skill and movement.
