Default Boxers That were succesfull in life in post boxing career

Too often we discuss and see the horror stories that become of fighter's lives after their time passes as athletes. Does anyone have any success stories of fighters after the ring wars to share, or are there too few to mention. Or is success, just getting out with your faculties intact enough to live an average life, the best most can hope for.

Maybe it explains why so few choose such a course now a days.

Obviously it seems Ray Leonard did ascend, Delahoya, maybe Hagler, but those are few. Mostly boxing is riddled with tragady, Chacon, Benitez, Quarry, Tyson, Ayala, Taylor etc. and on and on.

Seems Danny Lopez, Mancini did ok but thats about the best it gets in most cases. Did any go on to become succesfull in any field unrelated to boxing?

Max Schmeling had a lot of business interest after he retired, and he didn't just do okay. He was actually rich. Not from boxing so much, he was just a good businessman.

Gene Tunney did quite well too. Larry Holmes of course. He bought real estate, and is ridiculously well off.

Front man or not, he has been successful.

By the way, hear about the Evander Holyfield Grill? Screw that. No one wants a Holyfield Grill.

People speak about the George Foreman Grill in one word i.e. "there's forks in the drawer right by the georgeforemangrill." EVERYONE knows what it is.

Some less obvious examples.

Primo Carnera owned a number of busineses, had a moderately sucesfull acting career and founded a major charity.

Luis Fipo invested his money well and died a verry wealthy man.

Harry Wills while denied a shot at the title made his pile and invested it wisley.

British bare lnuckle champion John Gulley was elected to parliament and owned a coliery (bit like owning an oilfield in those days).

Wasn't he a pro-wrestler as well? At any rate, I remember seeing him in a film as a kid, where he played "the Python", who was this sinister Italian wrestler living in England for some reason. Considering that film was in the 1950s Carnera looked in ridiculously good shape and was in a major part of a big budget (by British standards) movie.

In fact, I daresay one could argue that Carnera's life took a definite upswing after he retired.
