Gennady Golovkin has a fight! He meets boxrec 14th ranked Makoto Fuchigami (19-6) on the undercard of Bayangurovs title defence in the Ukraine on May 12. Fuchigami is most known for upsetting Koji Sato by stoppage last year for the regional title in an apparently very entertaining fight. Never watched it but might go back and do it now.
Some of you should know Fuchigami and input would be appreciated. |

Watched Sato v Fuchigami on youtube and it was indeed fun. Fuchigami was prepared to eat a couple of hundred head shots to get the TKO which probably doesn't bode real well against a puncher like Golovkin. On the other hand Golovkin ate a couple of hundred uppercuts to get the stoppage against Ouma and who knows, maybe this fight will be fun after all.

This might be a fun quick fight, but it's disappointing to hear how K2 is moving Golovkin. He could've fought a fight like this on Wlad's March undercard and used the publicity to build excitement for the Sturm fight or have had it in the US on ESPN to begin building his recognition there, which he'll need to get fights with the big names. This makes the long battle with Universum look like a huge waste.
