No. To lots of people who are not familar with the differences they would struggle to tell what country someone was from in Asia. Regardless even within countries like Thailand and Korea there are real variations in skin tone and appearance. Even more so in somewhere with the mixed heritage of the Philipines. Anyway, there is no appearance that is "English" so it's not a good example. It's a bit like saying "American".

Most Korean people seem to think all white people look similar to some random white celeb they've seen on TV, even when you look nothing like them.

I think Hatton's comment was meant to be a self deprecating joke, but if you want to take it as racist then I suppose you could, but it is overly sensitive IMO.

That's a fact. I've had some ridiculous comparisons, mostly from kids but also from adults. I was genuinely shocked when a friend (who'd worked in Australia for a year) told me she thought all white people look the same. I used to think our eye and hair colour variation (also hairstyles when compared with Koreans) would make it easier for them than it is for us. I suppose they just look at us and see the double slits and long noses
