Default Foreman- Absurd analysis for Hops/Tito-01''

OMG-
George Foreman is Horribe on this telecast- I never liked him as a commentator anyway- great fighter/great story, but somewhat of an IDIOT as a commentator- with his expert "analysis"
I'm glad HBO got rid of him..

He's at his worst here (hopkins-Trinidad 01)

"that referee's speech didn't impress me at all"

"This pace is too much for Hopkins"

"Hopkins better be careful", etc.. blah blah

"alot of signs that Hopkins is tiring, legs wearing out"..

"i don't know if Bernard can keep up with this"
and then of course, his idiot-brained theory about Hopkins eventually tiring/legs wearing down trying to "chase Trinidad on the ropes", all night, etc..- 'too much for Hopkins'..
This theory is absolute BS

etc. etc..

unbelievable- and then all the arguing back/forth between George and Larry, and then George and Jim, George and Harold, and then George and Larry again.
omg
he was terrible..

George has charisma and tells it like he sees it. I don't need my commentators to be right all the time -- I want them to have the balls to tell it like they see it in their own unique way.

He was wrong. So what?

Meh, I kinda like hearing him opine. He was frequently wrong, but he always had, to me, an interesting viewpoint, and brought some unique insight to some aspects.

Foreman gets obsessed with the power factor. That's an element from his first career. He also loves the jab. That's an element from his second career.

Tito had the power and Geroge licked his nuts.

I like it when Merchant basically said - are you going to give Hopkins any credit George.

Tito got owned in every way a fighter can be owned. It was a flawless performance.

Yeah i noticed that since i saw the fight, but i mean towards the end he backpeddled and gave Hops respect. Id rather hear George Foreman commentating than Max Kellerman anyday.

Yeah, at the end Foreman said " I wish I could find my words so I could eat 'em ".

He was wrong. So what?
but there are degrees of 'wrongness'
you can get a drunken bum to 'have the balls to call it in their own unique way'it adds nothing.
But george;hes a legendary HW champ,,elder statesmen and well paid, yet stevie wonder could have analyed that fight better.
nah,not good enough.

yes people have the right to make mistakes, and people have the right to criticise them for it.its not like hes going to be executed.you wouldnt have improvements, reforms or high standards without disapproval from others.it helps progress.wouldnt you try harder if people said,(fairly) youre work was shit?

Maybe the HBO cronies on this forum are really pushing the all-talk, no-experience, commentator. I mean they have recently hated on Lenox, Foster, and Foreman--Who will it be tommorrow?

Greenberg Fired Foreman for publicly bickering with Lampley and Merchant and I can get you the Ring article if you want.

Great post...I was watching the fight a few months back and I noticed the same thing. The part about the referee's speech didn't make any sense, and Larry asked him in the middle of the fight why he didn't give Hopkins more credit.

The Ring Yearbook 2005 has big article on it and condoned it. Its like they think boxers need to stick to boxing and cant be intellectual.
