Smile Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I conducted a poll previously on the question of which fighter has threatened Mayweather the most since 2007. The majority voted for Oscar De la Hoya.

BORKED

My Question, would this version of ODLH be able to beat Mayweather?

Stop it. Mayweather was using 10 oz HEAVYWEIGHT gloves this bout... gloves ODLH forced him to use.

ODLH would have been shut down even faster if they were fighting on fair terms.

that excuse is as bad as mannys cramps.

de la hoya looked like a pretty bad matchup for mayweather but managed win, itd be even better for both guys if they had smaller gloves.

but anyways we'll never know, i mean this old de la hoya gave floyd quite a bit of a challenge, im imagining a younger de la hoya would be nightmares for floyd but as you know floyd has an excellent ability to adjust which makes it much more difficult, prime or not. Forgot to add, when floyd was younger he used alot more movement

A younger Oscar is also a younger Floyd with more movement and speed and even quicker....so if you flipped the tables....if Oscar couldnt get it done agaisnt a blown up slower Floyd....how does he do it with a Floyd who is younger and fresher?

Keep in mind many people saw that as a CLEAR win for Floyd most say it should have been a UD rather than a SD.

voted Mayweather

Oscar lacks the focus, consistency, and right hand to beat Mayweather. Once Floyd gets the inertia going you aren't winning any rounds. Oscar is someone who had back and fourth fights. I mean even look at how Shane Mosley forced Oscar to abandon his jab in that round

Seriously?

DLH had everything in his advantage going in that fight. Ring size, money, location, weight/size, gloves and whatever else I'm forgetting. If you honestly believe all of that means nothing then you must have issues.

A younger Oscar would have won a UD. Look how much trouble he gave a prime Floyd. He was one fight away from retirement. Not even close to his prime.

Floyd would beat DLH at 130 and 135. Those were the weights where Mayweather was at his best physically, and DLH was drained at 130 and was rather underdeveloped technically at 135.

At 140, it's close to a 50-50 fight. DLH was a physical monster at that weight, and his skills were better.

I favor both the 1997-1999 147 DLH and the 2002-2003 154 pound DLH over Floyd.

How can anyone consider that fight was fair was beyond me. It was Oscar's division. Floyd was a small WW at the time. Oscar was 160+ middleweight whilst floyd showed up 149lbs on night of fight. Then they fought in a small ass kid size ring with big gloves. and Oscar only success were fouls of holding and hitting and he still lost 8-4. I swear people are shit for brains.

just look at the clip should remind you how Oscar tries to impose his size against his opponent. Swinging wildly and hope to win on trades GTFO out here. even a 147 prime peak Oscar will be schooled by any version of Floyd. Hell 130lb Floyd fought with more composure than 147 Oscar.

Lampley acting like Oscar is actually achieving something when Floyd goes to the ropes. Oscar didn't hardly land anything.

You're more than welcome to your own opinion and while I disagree with you I'm not going to chastise you for it. I saw 8-4 Mayweather and I thought the split decision was a complete joke.
