Default Bellew Vs Clevery II - Too Soon?

Anyone else think taking this fight next or soon is too much of a risk for Bellew (and Cleverly)? The first fight, I had been anticipating for two years or so and I personally wanted to see it more than Pacquaio Vs Mayweather (honest). And the fight itself - in my view anyway -turned out to be one of the best fights I have ever seen. I would love to see it happen again (and again). But not just yet.

I feel like Bellew only wants this fight to replenish the blemish on his record and to get one over on Cleverly. Bellew still believes he won the first fight. He just won't let it drop. I think he would be better off forgetting about Nathan Cleverly for now and taking a different path to world title success. He can always get Cleverly down the road sometime. Even if he fails in his world title ambitions, a rematch between him and Cleverly would still sell.

The main reason I think it is a bad idea is, what if he loses the rematch? Which, considering he lost the first fight only 6 months ago, is a huge possibility. And what happens if he loses this fight? He can probably kiss goodbye to his world title ambitions. A lot of people consider Cleverly to be a weak champion, and if he can't beat him in the rematch, it is not going to look good for him. And he will definitely be seen as second best to Cleverly. I just think it is a big career risk to be taking the Cleverly fight so soon. Focus on winning your own world title. If that happens, (and assuming Cleverly is a world champion) you could probably hold the rematch in a football stadium and put it on PPV, netting both of you a fortune. If you don't win a world title - as I have mentioned already - it will still be a massive fight and he has a chance to get his revenge.

Or maybe Tony needs to get this fight out of his system as soon as? What do you think?

depends on allot of things. I don't think it can become a much bigger fight but does bellew deserve the fight? still seems better than allot of the bums clev has been fighting.

If its a big fight they may as well get it on before 1 or both of them loses.

Bellew didn't deserve it the 1st time. No way he deserves a rematch.

Perfect timing for the rematch, both European level fighters, first fight was good and close, why not?

I don't like it when defeated overseas opponents call for rematches whenever they lose a world title attempt, even a close one, so won't change my spots just because Bellew is a Brit and I like him. He did not deserve this shot - I think he only got the shot in the first place because it was really a domestic fight that happened to have a world title attached - and I think that the UK would rightly be derided for having protected champions if Bellew got a second shot at it. Cleverly has a mandatory, and is talking about a unification with Shumenov, so hopefully he does those two, gets some respect as a champion and Bellew does something else with the rest of his year. As it is, Bellew is in danger of becoming a guy who lives of one close loss for a title and dines out on it for years. I think Bellew needs to go for the European title - as he has absolutely no resonance on the true world title map at the moment - and forget about rematching Cleverly in the short term, imho.

Nobody deserves a shot at the mighty Nathan Cleverly.

If the other option was going to involve Cleverly in a world class, interesting fight then fair enough but as it is I wouldn't mind seeing Cleverly-Bellew II instead of the tosh thats likely to be served up instead on it.

Way too soon.

Clev NEEDS to face a world class operator now, there's no reason not to.

Tony needs to rule Europe/face someone like Karo.M before he gets a rematch, simple.

Jesus, just let it build up for another 12-18 months!

Doesn't deserve to fight a man who had the title handed to him rather than won it in the ring

Cleverly will beat him even easier, he fought Tony Bellew in his own back yard and at his own game stylistically.

If Bellew could not beat him then, i don't see HOW he will in the rematch.

I would rather Bellew and Cleverly just fight other people.
