their family. Could be why Floyd has such an emphasis on defense. You see what happened to Roger. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxcYHe4Xj4I[/ame]

It’s possible. But we’re likely to never find out.
The only reason why Floyd’s never been knocked out or has appeared as though he can take a shot, is because he’s rarely ever been hit cleanly by good punchers in his career. The few times opponents have nailed him with clean power shots – Judah, Corley, Mosley – he’s been badly wobbled in all of them. To say he has a certified iron chin .But I will say that his [Mayweather's] recovery time is pretty good. That, combined with knowing exactly how to cover up/survive an assault, has prevented opponents from ever following up and hurting him more. |

There is this myth that mayweathers chin has never been tested...
Watch hes fights he takes clean punches here and there (def not anywhere near as most other but still takes plenty). He seems to have an iron body as well... |

It's been tested somewhat, but not to the point where you can put a clear, solid rating on it like you can do with most others (Marg, Pac, Oscar, Shane, etc, - guys who have been hit clean regularly by variety of different punchers/opponents, for you to have a pretty accurate idea of what their chin is like).

One of the best clean shots he took was from Castillo. It always stuck in my head because Floyd got caught and he couldn't roll with it. Just watch from 2:40 (even though it's towards the end at 2:53) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpVJ2XfaXKY[/ame] He was tagged a lot more below WW because he was more willing to take risks. Even when he was hurt by Corley, which was a shot he got caught with when he was throwing his own and didn't see Corley's... he fought back and was taking shot after shot clean and fighting back. * Interesting however is that Floyd made the point about being hurt by Mosley was more from his long layoff and hadn't taken a punch in years so he wasn't used to it. That's something else to look at as to why its best to stay active. Overall, I think his chin is good but I wouldn't class it as one of the best. However, his recuperation skills are very high. |

Mayweather has a pretty good chin. I don't care who you are, you can't fight 42 fights over almost 15 years at this level without having your chin tested. Obviously it's in a fighters' best interest to take as few shots as possible, and Mayweather is good at that. However, he's been hit with plenty of good shots and has taken just about all of them pretty well.
