I saw this on liverkick late last night, great fight report, really enjoyed it. Sounds like a hell of a night that had everything topped off with a rare upset!!! Wish I was there, I can smell the sweet linament oil from here! Brilliant: "The star man from the Petyindee stable was hanging in there until he was hit with a perfectly executed elbow in the fourth round which saw him take a count and even though he beat it he was left in need of a knock out. To his credit Sam A pressed forward and tried to take the fight to his opponent with punches and elbows but Peneak was able to pick him off at will, landing a series of solid headkicks and another elbow which opened up an enormous gash on Sam A's forehead, to go with the cut he had already collected under his right eye." Would love to have seen all that, wonder if it's on youtube yet. |

This is a big win to Peneak. IIRC they had fought before when both were very young....
I know Peneak is bigger, but even so a win over Sam-A is a very good thing to his resume. Canīt wait to see the video...... Also, the card had some big fights all together.... |

I would think Sam A was the favourite going into the fight even though he was the smaller man. Singdams win over nong o is a very good win for him. Singdam has been on a good run as of late. good find sir! That knockdown really solidified the victory for penek, Sam-a wasnt doing bad on the outside with his kicks but Penek with the size advantage was too much at close range. Still good fight! Hope to see the rest of the card. |

Thanks for finding and posting the fight Vic. Great fight really enjoyed it had a bit of everything, good build up, interesting style match up, and a dramatic ending. I had the way more technical Sam A just ahead going into the 4th. He was definately giving a fair bit of weight away though, not to mention height and reach etc. He was fighting brilliant going into the 4th, close but doing enough. Penek, way less technical but brutally effective really stepped the pressure up in the 4th and got in what he had been looking for since the end of round 2, a vicious elbow. The commentator mentions how he is famous for knees, elbows and high round kicks to the neck. Great win for the Southern native of Pattalung (U know how I like southerners ), Thailand’s new man to beat. ![]() It was interesting listening to the commentary cos the commentator kept going on about the beauty of Sam A’s style and the very very ugly yet effective stalking style of Penek. You are right Vic, he mentions that these guys fought along time ago at 119lbs, but rather annoyingly he doesn’t say who won!! ! ![]() But I think Penek one the first, just by the way he was talking. The commentator also goes on about how there are less Southern boxers but when they are good they tend to be very good and fiery. This is a commonly held view in Thailand that Southerners have fiery personalities, I can attest to that being true as my wife is a southerner and the southern boxers I’ve known tend to be very soft and calm outside the ring but absolute seek and destroy merchants in the ring. ![]() Not to take anything away from Penek, but for me Sam A is still the better fighter, too much stacked against him in this fight, weight, height, reach etc. A massive risk for him to fight Penek especially with his long unbeaten stint going into the sportswriter’s award, a big deal in Thailand. But once again a Thai fighter shows us the amazing powers of recovery they have. Sam A gets taken down by a brutal elbow springs right back up and goes to war. Take it from me Thais are very very very hard to knock down in the first place even with flush shots let alone expect them not to get back up again, they’re like machines. The relentless police terminator in Terminator 2 comes to mind. Anyway thanks for the posts, enjoyed it.

This link just got sent to me by a friend:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Well this highlights just how risky the fight was for Sam A in terms of what was at stake, winner takes all. Well done to another great southerner Penek. A good highlight clip to. ![]() A future ATG? Who knows. Last edited by boranbkk; 05-08-2012 at 08:06 PM. |

If Sam A would have won he could have been Thailands sports writers fighter of the year 2011 & 12 putting him up their with some greats like kaensak, and Anuwat that I know to win the award consecutively.
from the second round http://gifsoup.com/imager.php?id=3701004&t=o this is the elbow in the fourth http://gifsoup.com/imager.php?id=3701148&t=o Last edited by yaca you; 05-09-2012 at 07:30 AM. |

Thanks for the post and loving the Buakaw war hat.
Here's the (edited) Superlek Wor Sangprapai v Choknamchai Sitjaagung fight from the same bill, a good little tear up between two knee specialists, not bad for a 16 and 18 year old eh! Love Superlek's right leg, knees nad kicks. ![]() [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13WhWeeQX7M[/ame] |

![]() I did a translation for Flea once. I understand about 90%, but I've got my missus for back up if it's to slangy or colloquial. By the way you proberbly know this Superlek was in red. |
