Default I really don't get sparring at times

Like this week. Thursday I did really average and it left a sore taste in my mouth.

Today I felt like Floyd Mayweather, I managed to block everything (I used a block style that I never used before) and landed some of the cleanest body shots I've ever landed. Even my sparring partners were surprised how much I changed in two days

Just a shot in the dark; but maybe your eating or sleeping were different on the two different days.

Actually Thursday I was in better shape than today. I felt like crap during the exercises but felt really sharp during sparring today.

Everyone has good days and bad days. Some days you're on fire and everything just works. Some days you're just out of it and you can't buy a clean shot.

The guys you're sparring with are in the exact same boat. There's probably some dude sitting there going "Damn, Thursday I was on fire, but today I can't land a thing and I got tagged in the body heaps"

its okay, i'm like that too, i dont improve at all for like quite some time , then suddenly i get all the improvement in one day of sparring. its like i flatline for a few days then just improve randomly that day , a rediculous amount of improvement haha

Your mental state also has a lot to do with performance along with nutrition and physical preperation.

As Primate said; good days, bad days.

thats what makes boxing so difficult ,,the frame of mind for sparring should be relaxed & depending what standard your at, try to work your partner out ready for a opening,,boxings a thinking game ..how can i hit you without you hitting me

agree with this thread.

on the day I got hurt in the ribs, I was completely flat. calves were sore as hell, and was tired from doing two classes back to back.

other stuff went on as well that threw me off.
