When McCloskey turned to jelly, Corley didn't take advantage and steam into him.
It seems to me the ref jumped in when McCloskey had returned to earth. Last edited by Scotty321; 05-07-2012 at 08:16 AM. |

Corley was being polite He tried to make out as if the horrible stagger McClosky came out with after that punch was him playing possum and just a bit of showmanship. He was just telling the crowd what they wanted to hear. |

Watt was spot on IMO. It was a shit stoppage and mainly so because the ref did react and jumped in almost instinctively and then realised he now had to stop it.
Watch Gatti fight back against Ward in round 9 or Corrales stop Castillo in their first fight and then watch that stoppage again and say it is good. |

I have watched this a few times now and at first I thought it was a poor stoppage but everytime I watched after it became more and more clear McCloskey was hurt, although he was still ready to fight and was still looking at Corley, his legs were gone and I got the feeling that if it continued he would have been viciously knocked out.

Chop Chop stepped in and change my opinion that he should retire now Hes had a good career and achieved more than most fighters ever will ![]() Oh and on the stoppage at the time i thought it was premature, i hate "british stoppages" as i like to call them, but I have to say I got thinking and i would rather see him stopped too soon than too late... |

All the "cheated not defeated" shit after the Khan fight annoyed lots of people, especially as he'd lost every round and didn't appear to be trying too hard against Khan. When it was stopped it looked to me like he had given up and was looking for a way out of the fight, then in the interview he starts moaning and say it was his plan to lose every round
![]() and that Khan was tiring when he clearly wasn't and had hurt him just before it got stopped.Doesn't take anything away from this being a bad stoppage though. |
