Default What Cotto did right. . .

Two things Cotto impressed me with:

1. Taking away Floyd's straight lead right,
2. Timing/disguising that Left Jab

I'm not sure whether it was the 10oz gloves (allowing Cotto to block easier and slowing Floyd's handspeed), Floyd's feet slowing down or both but Floyd wasn't able to land that straight right like he normally does. Of course he adjusted and landed that sweeping right hook which makes me lean towards thinking the larger factor was a combination of Cotto's defensive game plan and the 10oz gloves.

On the jab, It looked like Cotto was able to disguise and time it very well. He landed best when he countered or Floyd's first movement. Sometimes it appeared that Floyd didn't see it coming. Either way I see Floyd winning at least 9 rounds, but Cotto did about as well as he could with this opponent and it was easily Floyd's toughest fight.

It was the earmuff defence, DLH did the same thing, its good for blocking the straight right but it leaves you open to hooks & uppercuts, given Floyds fight with DLH I'm fairly sure he was aware of this, he seemed to almost exclusively throw right-hooks around the guard, I don't really even remember him even throw too many straights.
