Default Re: Prime Lewis - How does he beat Haye?

Wlad Haye is the best blueprint, only as stated above, Lennox would be more right hand happy. Lennox can win going backwards or forwards, inside or outside. He'd manhandle Haye in the clinch, and arguably Haye is one of the few fighters who couldn't match Lennox for stamina. Lennox's chin stood up to a lot, and the two guys who knocked him out were genuine heavies. He wasn't out cold twice either, as in the McCall fight it was a questionable stoppage. He fought bigger bangers than Haye many times, in Tua, Prime Vitali, Tyson etc.

Can't see a good argument for Haye other than once in a blue moon, he MIGHT land a good shot, and Lennox MIGHT not stand up to it. But you could say that about Ernie Shavers fighting Joe Louis. It means nothing in the order of who is better.

I reckon Shannon Briggs of that era would beat David Haye more often than not for what its worth.

Against Thompson Haye's stoppage loss was down to fatigue and when "dropped" by Mormeck that was actually a slip. On the other hand Lewis was badly knocked out cold a few times.
No disrespect but that is a shockingly bad post.

Tua was never dropped as a pro and recognised to have one of the best chins around and you compare him to Haye. Haye did not jump on Wlad, he backed away and did nothing. He did not even jump on Audley until the 4th round.

Haye was knocked out by Jim Twite in the amateurs, dropped and badly hurt by Super Middleweight Lolenga Mock, dropped and hurt by Mormeck and is not even a good finisher. He rushes in winging when he has a man hurt, and sometimes it works (Enzo) and sometimes it smothers his own work and lets the guy off (Ruiz round 1).

Lewis was knocked out "cold" a "few times" was he? Name them. He was on his feet by 6 against McCall. So the only time you could have it, is in Rahman 1.

Lewis took flush shots from Mercer, Bruno, Rahman (excluding the KO), Briggs and Vitali. Genuine heavyweights with real power.

Haye would be destroyed everytime.

I would fear for Haye's health in this one. If Lewis lands the right-hand he landed on Rahman, he might take Haye's head clean off.

From the 90s, Haye fights more like Larry Donald and Henry Akinwande.

Lewis best opponents in order of when it took place

G. Mason
R. Ruddock
T. Tucker
F. Bruno
O. McCall
T. Morrison
R. Mercer
O. McCall II
H. Akinwande
A. Golota
S. Briggs
Z. Mavoric
E. Holyfield
E. Holfyeild II
M. Grant
F. Botha
D. Tua
H. Rahman
H. Rahman
M. Tyson
V. Klitshcko

He took 21 opponents in total who were top 10 at the point, going 19-2 which is impressive.

The only thing is Haye style isnt much like the others he fought...closet being Akinwande who was a negative but hard hitting puncher..

I think he did actually, didn't he?! I haven't seen the fight for a few years, because it wasn't a particularly good one, but if memory serves Akinwande did score a flash knockdown. I've got the fight, I'll check................

Here's the clip:

Looking at it again I don't think it is a knockdown, it's a bit of an odd one though, has Lewis ever made any reference to it in an interview?

I personally think Lewis would win by KO, probably in the first half the fight.

Any suggestions on what one of Lennox Lewis' opponents could give us any comparisons?
He would win by a right hand..

Haye has just been steeped in the Union Jack too long for Lewis to handle.

Haye would do **** all for 3 rounds, while trying to avoid Lennox's jab. Then Lennox would get a bit bored and take Haye's head off.

Lennox within 4.
