Default Felt like a burning rubber band snapped in my calf - hospital or not?

About four days ago, the day after a rather brisk run i which I was feeling some calf tightness, in between sets I was doing some jumping exercises where I bring my knees up to my chest. I am 35 years old.

this year I have not been in the gym as regularly because I commute 140 miles a day, but I have had a few weeks off and have been hitting it hard, with a lot of calf soreness and tightness.

During my landing, I felt like a burning rubber band deep in my right calf just "snapped", from heel to knee, and if just felt like something had popped in there as i had never felt. My calves are pretty thick, and for the past four days it feels like a chronic cramp about to come on but I only limp after I have been lying down.

I can't put more than my body weight on it, when I tried to jump rope it feels like the leg is going to collapse, and when I try to stretch it out against the wall I can point the toe easily but it feels extremely tight to even put it flat on the ground.

The problem is that it is so deep in the muscle if something did snap I can't imagine they would be able to do anything about it without major invasive surgery. Anybody know what I may have done or if this will heal on its own? when I flex it and rub it there is no pain, but when I relax the muscle and rub it there is great deep pain.

I can walk for the most part just fine after the muscle "warms" up, but trying to stand on one leg is extremely painful.

Definitely get it checked out. At 35 and training your ass off regularly, you shouldn't be playing with injuries like that

Why would you even do such exercises at that age? Sounds like you're just ruining your knees

knees feel fine, I just really like the explosive exercises, the static ones are boring as hell - I feel way younger than my age as far as physical speed and capability, but stuff like this happening makes you realize, shoot, maybe I am getting old.

Calf cramping and tightness has been my most consistent lifelong malady, but that hasn't changed since high school, this is the first time I felt, crap, just did something maybe permanent.

Get a scan done and take the guess work out of it. For a couple hundred dollars, youll know for certain.
from your achillies to your knee dont play around, as its impossible to train around an injury in this area without completely changing the way you train. Take the guess work out, see a specialist and go from there.
