Hand speed, foot speed, power, timing, tenacity, experience...all in pacs favor. This is a no brainer. I know Tim's a hardworking very likable guy. But he's destined for limbo. He's hardworking and well rounded but there's nothing extraordinary about the guy.

Manny's footwork isn't that great. He tends to overstep when he throws his straight left hand. You can hear Emmanuel Stewart constantly referencing it when he is guest commentating in Pacquiao's earlier fights. He has improved over the years, but during exchanges in the later rounds he still tends to do it. Bradley doesn't have better footwork, but Manny's isn't great either.

Manny has horrible footwork. His footwork causes him to lose awareness of body position a lot....he also stutter steps a lot.
Watch how Manny "runs in" and crosses his feet. It is very easy to see. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtARRrX2FXQ[/ame] |

Manny has great footwork when he is allowed to engage and usually his speed covers up his flaws. When his opponent keeps space and moves waway from him when he attacks he looks awful.

The video is incredibly biased. It totally negates Pacman's strengths which are speed, heart and power. But it does also show what I was talking about with the overstepping. A great counter puncher like Mayweather would take advantage of that all night

Manny's footwork is superior. It's probably his most valuable asset.
Just because he's prone to making mistakes doesn't mean his footwork is "horrible." He's only been outmatched by an elite ATG fighter like Marquez. He can control the distance and angle better than nearly all fighters in the game right now. If his footwork were as bad as people say, he would have been knocked out by now by the likes of Cotto and Margarito. |
