A prime late 70's Hagler would've chased Roy around the ring and eventually cleaned his clock.
Hagler in the 80's probably would've gotten beat. Maybe?
And the guy who fought Ray Leonard was way past his prime and would've had punchers chance.

Id have to go with the Marvelous one, i think whatever shots Roy threw that landed would just bounce off that shaven head, maybe a Hagler Hearns would of happened..

I always thought RJJ had the talent to be one of the top 5 boxers ever, but it never happened. I don't think Roy really liked to fight, and what happened to his friend Gerald Mcclellan really affected him. I think the only times his real talent came out was when you pissed him off (M. Griffin, T. Tate). I think Roy would have a good chance if he was on top of his game and really pissed at Hagler, but if I had to bet my life, I would go with Hagler (How is that for fence sitting?)

I'm gonna get lambasted for this... but I'm sorry, thats a UD12 for Roy.

Hagler is an all time great and a warrior... but he would have been a couple steps behind Jones allllll night.

But past prime Hagler would have KO2'd the Jones of 2001 and after.

Roy would probably win about 8 of these rounds. Hagler would have horrible trouble with him.

ITs an interesting matchup at 160 Hagler is one of the best to ever lace em up. He had good power and at 160 wins the matchup. Anything heavier and Jones could probably eek out a decision

With such a good beard it's hard not to see a prime Hagler catching up with RJJ the hard way just by walking him down. Could Roy take what he got back? Prob not. RJJ would have almost definitely gone straight to smw if Hagler had been around in his era anyway. If he didn't want Benn or Eubank he def wouldn't want Marvin. Would have been a great and competitive fight though either way.

Hmm...Let me ride the fence while giving an explanation and style analysis.

Roy at 160 was a tad green, and didn't have the experience he did against lefties later on. However, he was immensely gifted, would most likely enter the ring heavier than Marvin (different weigh-in procedures). His mix of speed and power was top notch, and he sometimes doesn't get enough credit for his smarts. He was cerebral, he set traps and exploited.

Once again, all the people who think Hagler was some ultra aggressive guy who just walked thru shots to overwhelm his opponent obviously haven't seen much of him. Hagler was first and foremost a boxer who used the ring, lateral movement, picked shots economically, could counter or lead with his brilliant jab.

Some questions here are, should Hagler fight Jones in the manner he fought Hearns and be that super-aggressive guy? Jones wasn't the most refined guy on the inside, but he could flurry on the inside or throw sneaky uppercuts and body shots.

If it's a fight from the outside, how much does Hagler's jab offset Roy's rhythm? Does Roy counter it with a left hook?

With Roy being better at countering than leading, it could be a case where both guys set traps and try to bait the other to lead.
