Yeah, I guess to fix my list I should remove Ortiz, as he was a New Yorker, and add Jofre.

Thats 21
I never saw Saldivar
I have no problem with people rating Monzon, Chavez, Arguello, etc above Eder.....but Jofre looks pretty low in your list....especially because he is below Valdez, I like Valdez, really good fighter, but I think a dominant champion like Jofre would deserve a higher place than Valdez.....at least...IMO.

Oh, I agree that Jofre ranks above Valdez..but I've got to include the Colombian Panther in my list..and I know there will be some resentment over me ranking Jofre over Duran..

Probably because 4 some reason (language alone) they r not considered Hispanics (but neither do d Spanish) .
However I consider Italians and 2 a lesser extent Romanians and French Latin although no "Latino" because i know it is not popular 2do so .

Jose Napoles can legitimately be argued as highly as #15 all-time, never mind just from Latin America, and above Carlos Monzon. The depth of his opposition was extensive, and he was a dominant and spectacular force in the late '60s especially, before snatching and defending a title that was slightly too big for him. Extra points for that.

Naturally, most ESB'ers will say Duran...but Jofre was likened to a bantam Sugar Ray Robinson...a very heavy thing..I personally see Jofre and Harada as the two greatest bantam champions of history. Can't seperate Harada from Jofre here..as great as Jofre was, Harada was just fantastic in beating him, esp. in that first fight. I think that despite that there are some Jofre fights on You Tube and elsewhere, he is still the "greatest fight no one has ever seen"(in the U.S. of course)

This is more like it..
Carlos Monzon
Jose Napoles
Eder Jofre
Roberto Duran
Carlos Ortiz (even though I think Ortiz could beat Duran)
Wilfredo Gomez (at 122 he was peerless)
Alexis Arguello
Julio Cesar Chavez (don't know what I was thinking in the first list)
Nicolino Locche
Wilfred Benitez
Antonio Cervantes
Ruben Olivares
Vincente Saldivar
Miguel Canto
Rodrigo Valdez
Marco Antonio Barrera
Carlos Zarate
Eusabio Pedroza
Victor Galindez
Pasqual Perez
Honorable mention: Luis Rodriguez, Jose Torres, Rafael Herrera, Hugo Corro, Ismael Laguna

Wasn't Ortiz originally from Puerto Rico?
