I was thinking about this lifting to myself earlier...
It does worry me abit (as ive never seen Khan lift before and same goes for many top fighters...) Ruben is a smart guy and an athlete himself... He's used to training heavyweight Haye though. You can't really improve power from lifting weights. It's just a fact and physics, it's in the technique. As long as it doesn't hurt Khan's speed its fine |

Khan said he never did weights with Ariza. Now Ruben has him doing weights. Ariza changed his body from top heavy and seems like Ruben is trying to revert back to that lol.
Khan needs to actually connect with his shots. Not just pitter patter flurries. Sit on them shots so it has effect. |

I want somebody to interview Ariza on his thoughts about Ruben's training methods... tweet?
Ariza did a great job with Khan... Did he do the best? who knows... Will be ruben do better? it would be an achievement if so. Khan will know after he fights Garcia... If he fails to KO him then it's back to Ariza I hope. "his legs were weak and his balance was all over the place. He was too big in the upper body" - About Khan in 2008-2009 "We have moved away from heavy lifting, rope and tyres, climbing, dead lifts and focused more on things that are more functional" Ariza & Ruben seem to have different ideas on training. I'd say Alex knows Khan better and has worked alongside freddie for longer.. Khan won't gain power through any new training methods...so what is there to gain from Ruben??? |

Lifting weights doesn't improve punching power whoever said that!
As long as Khan is fully prepared then he should be fine. I don't like how this guy let David Haye get away with NOT doing road work....his stamina has always been suspect and I think the lack of road work is the reason why. |

Yeah that's Ruben Tabares, Haye's S&C coach. I wonder if his new physique will having him fighting more like Haye? He already has the running backwards part down, now he just needs to cut his punch output by 80%
