If those are 25lb plates at a min, then thats 245lbs, unless you meant kilos.

Looks like 405, but don't see how it's possible. I'd need proof of him lifting it to beleive it.
Well I have olympic bumper plates but mine are black, no color scheme. So these more than likely are 20's or 25's.

Yeah I use a mixed grip as well, but his S&C coach probaly just has him using a pronated grip so he can get used to the movement.

The heaviest I pulled (or attempted to pull) was 315 for about 4 reps a couple years ago (weight of 180bs) and I didn't need chalk. Bu then again, I lift on the regular so I dont need it.

Deadlifting is great but I wonder how it helps with boxing specifically? Will you it give you extra power in uppercuts? Better overall balance?

Just hope it doesnt cause an injury.

Maybe Haye's S&C will really help. Now if Amir could find a trainer to teach him some inside fighting ability........

Deadlifts being a compound exercise, work the entire body, much like the other 2 compounds squats and when done properly, bench press. Though they are primarily used to thicken and widen the muscles of back, and strengthen the hamstrings they also have a marked effect on the sternocleidomastoid

And upper trapezius

Though I doubt that is there intention, strengthening of the shock absorbers could very well lead to an increased punch resistance.

strengthening the posterier chain muscles will help you take a better punch, or at least help u stay up when your in trouble.

You can pull more with chalk though... At least going for like one rep max. All those guys in deadlifting competitions use chalk (the straps are illegal in most that I know of).
If they aren't 45s I wouldn't be to shocked, but if they were... dude would be a beast.

Moe than likely they are 25'2 or 35's at most. Still decent weight for a junior welter weight.

I am a part of the new school of trainers that feel weights are essential for fighters.
You'd be surprised man.

I used to lift like that too, but I disagree that weight training is necessary unless you're refering to bodyweight. I used to lift over 1000 with my three lifts.

I switched to bodyweight training, and I feel more fluid and I haven't noticed any decrease in my power.
